1. The Elks National Foundation Scholarship - Awarded to a high school senior. Judging criteria is scholarship leadership, and financial need. Must complete the application and submit community service, honors and awards, leadership and extracurricular activities, essay and parental financial information. Applications in the Guidance Office. DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 2, 2011.

2. Foundation for Seacoast Health Scholarship - Awarded to students pursuing a health-related field of study in an accredited post-secondary institution of learning. Applications may be obtained at the Foundation website www.ffsh.org. DEADLINE IS MARCH 1, 2012.

3. The Maine Pulp and Paper Foundation Scholarship - Merit-based full-tuition scholarships awarded to students who plan to study engineering at the University of Maine in Orono. For further details and scholarship requirements, please go to www.mainepulpaper.org. DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 31, 2011.

4. AXA Achievement Scholarship - Awarded to a senior active in his/her community, led a project that benefits others and overcome personal challenges. 5. The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund - Renewable, 4-year scholarships to students with financial need who display academic excellence, a demonstrated sense of service to those around them, good character, and a strong work ethic. 6. Maine Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers - Scholarships for two outstanding high school seniors who plan a career in civil engineering. Based on academic performance in high school, participation in extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, and statement of interest in civil engineering. Applications in the Guidance Office. DEADLINE IS JANUARY 31, 2012.

7.  Senator George J. Mitchell Scholarship Research Institute - The Mitchell Scholarship Program awards a scholarship to a graduating senior from every public high school in Maine each year. Any senior planning to attend college in the fall should apply. Students planning to pursue both a two-year and four-year degree are eligible. Applications available at www.mitchellinstitute.org also available in the Guidance Office. DEADLINE IS APRIL 1, 2012.

8.  Margaret Chase Smith Library - Announcing the topic of it's annual essay contest. From church sermons to conference sessions to campaign speeches, there is high anxiety post-9-11 and the real Recession that the American Dream is unraveling and that succeeding generations will see low standards of living. We invite students to assess the current state of national affairs and describe the vision of the American Dream for the twenty-first century. 9.  Clyde Russell Scholarship Fund - Two categories of awards; gaaduating high school senior who will be attending a four-year college and graduating high school senior who will attend a Maine Community College. Application forms must be downloaded from the website at www.clyderussellscholarshipfund.org. DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 1, 2012.

10.  Visual Arts Awards - Available to students accepted to the UMaine's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and choose to major in Art (Studio, Art Education, Art History). DEADLINE IS JANUARY 25, 2012.

11.  Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship - Available to high school seniors who participated in a varsity sport and who will be furthering their education by attending a two- or four-year accredited college or university. Students must have earned a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher and performed volunteer work in the community. To apply, students will be asked to write a short essay explaining how they have demonstrated the value of sportsmanship both on and off the field. Students must apply online at Hood.com. DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 1, 2012.

12.  Seacoast Artist Association Scholarship - Leave your name in the Guidance Office if you want to be nominated for the Seacoast Artists Association's annual scholarship awards. You must submit three original works of art in any medium. Students should include a brief statement of career plans, including art schools or college arts programs to which they are applying. Entries should be delivered to the Gallery at 225 Water Street, Exeter, New Hampshire from April 3rd through April 7, 2012. DEADLINE IS APRIL 3, 2012.

13.  Maine Education Services (MES) Scholarship - Students can apply for multiple scholarships by completing the essay online process at the website www.mesfoundation.com. The Richard H. and Scottie Pierce Family Foundation Scholarship, Maine Legislative Memorial Scholarship, Maine State Chamber of Commerce Scholarship, Maine Metal Products Association Scholarship and the Richard H. Pierce Memorial Scholarship. DEADLINE IS APRIL 20, 2012.

14.  Alpha One Scholarship - Promotes independent living for people with disabilities in Maine. Applicants must have a documented disability, attending/attended high school within the state of Maine, Need not be a high school senior but may be anyone pursuing higher education, B average or equivalent GPA and an acceptance letter from post-secondary institution. DEADLINE IS APRIL 1, 2012.

15.  Simon Youth Foundation (SYF) Community Scholarship - Applications for the SYF Community Scholarship can be obtained by visiting Guest Services at Kittery Premium Outlets. Students can also download an application from the SYF website at www.syf.org/our-initiatives/scholarships/community-application. DEADLINE IS MARCH 1, 2012.

16. Buick Achievers Scholarship Program - Available to high school seniors who plan to enroll full time at a four-year college or university in 2012-2013, and plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry. DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY29, 2012.

17. York Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship - Awarded to a graduating senior who will attend an accredited school for study in a medical related field. Applications are in the Guidance Office or students can download the application from the website atwww.yorkhospital.com and click through to the news and events page DEADLINE IS APRIL 16, 2012.

18. Maine Society of Professional Engineers Scholarship - Awarded to graduating high school seniors. Scholarships are contingent upon your enrollment in an engineering program, applicants must intend to earn a degree in engineering and to enter the practice of engineering after graduation. Applications are in the Guidance Office or available by e-mail by contacting Colin C. Hewett at chewett@hwengineers.com. DEADLINE IS MARCH 1, 2012.

19. Maine Innkeepers Association Scholarship - Awarded to students pursuing a career in the hospitality industry. Awarded to students accepted to fully accredited schools with specialties in hotel administration and culinary sciences. DEADLINE IS APRIL 6, 2012.  

20. Recycling Scholarship - Awarded to a town resident who has or will graduate from an accredited high school, G.E.D. program or a home schooling program and who has enrolled in a post-secondary college, university or vocational-technical school. In addition to academic achievement and demonstrated financial need, special consideration may be given to applicants who have shown an interest in conservation, the environment or other recycling-related issues and who intends to concentrate their studies in environmental disciplines. DEADLINE IS APRIL 3O, 2012.

21.  Billie Cheverie Scholarship - Awarded to students who demonstrate a commitment to leadership, community service, and academic effort and in particular students who have participated in athletics. Applications in the Guidance Office. DEADLINE IS MAY 1, 2012.

22.  The Alumni Band Scholarship - Awarded to qualified candidates of the graduating class of 2012. Must be planning to pursue a four-year school with a major or minor in music. Application available on line www.thealumniband.com. DEADLINE IS MAY 5, 2012.

23. Scholarship Program – Arrive Alive Creative Contest - Open to graduating seniors who wish to send a message to their peers about the dangers of drinking and driving and the dangers of distracted driving. Rules on line at www.arrivealivecreativecontest.com. DEADLINE IS MAY 25, 2012.

24. NAACP Seacoast Branch Nathaniel Holloway Community Scholarship - Awarded to minority students as they begin their first year of college. Applications available on line at http://www.seacoastnaacp.eom/ Applications also in the Guidance Office. DEADLINE IS MAY 1, 2012.

25. York County Bar Association – Speech Scholarship Contest - Topic to be announced. If you are interested in participating please let the Guidance Office know before April 23, 2012.

26. Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Sorority of Women Educators - Awarded to a senior who is a child of an educator. Completed applications with references should be returned to the Guidance Office by May 2, 2012

27. Kiwanis Club of the Seacoast Scholarship - Available to graduating high school seniors. References and essay required. Applications on line at www.seacoastkiwanis.com. Also available in the Guidance Office DEALININE IS MAY 4, 2012
